SQL Tutorial - Drop Statement

The 'DROP' statement is used to delete objects from the database. It is a 'Data Definition Langauge' (DDL) command.

The DROP Statement

The 'DROP" statement helps you to drop database objects such as tables and all their data,indexes,triggers, constraints etc. and the database itself. Since it is DDL command, it is irrevocable. For eg. if you use it to drop a table, all information related to the table is lost forever. So extreme caution is to be exercised before using this command.

Drop table tablename
